It is our joy and honour to have Marakame (Medicine man) Eusebio and Eugenio (musician
and community leader) with us to share their knowledge and the wisdom from their culture.
This is an opportunity to learn about the culture, traditions and art of the Wirrarika people.
Through the oral history passed down from generation to generation, about the origin of creation, the ceremonies and sacred relation to Mother Earth and the elements.

Eugenio and Eusebio come from a very powerful and deeply connected ancient indigenous lineage. Deeply connected to Grandfather fire, the Nature Spirits, the Cosmos and Mother.

The origins of the wirrárikos is uncertain. Some investigators agree that they maintained a life that was independent from the big pre-Hispanic empires; nevertheless the wirrarikas say that their origin is in Teakata's sacred place, where fire was first born - or the grandfather fire like they called him - and that later the guacamaya was born, followed by the boa, the rainbow, the Sun, the rain and the earth, and later on they were born.

Nowadays - in spite of the devastating models of development, they represent one of the indigenous cultures that has managed to keep his thousand-year-old knowledge most alive.

The art of treatment by means of using sacred plants, energy and songs.
Its cosmovisión is full of myths, gods and legends represented by coloured figures woven into their gowns and represented in their crafts. In addition, this cosmovisión is strongly embodied in energy during the practices of these diverse ceremonies that take place almost throughout the whole year.
